With the opening of Valley of Witches on March 16, 2024, Ghibli Park will have completed its initial opening plan.
Before that, Ghibli Park will be closed for a month or so, from mid-February to March 15.
Just before this closure, in early February, I visited the park to see what the current status is like.
This time, I have photographed the current state of Valley of Witches.
Entrance portion of Valley of Witches is almost complete
Especially those living in the northern hemisphere may have the impression that February is “cold”. It is cold in Japan, too, as a matter of course ^^;
Tickets for the Dondokoro Forest area are quite popular. Since it was not easy to obtain tickets, I was actually able to finally enter at this rather quiet time of the year.
In such a situation, I was able to get a ticket near the end because I wanted to take a picture of Matsuki and Mei’s House.
Valley of Witches construction progress…
On the way there, I went to see the Valley of Witches, which is located at the north entrance, past the Ghibli Grand Warehouse, and turned left (east) just before the Touro-mon gate.
I did not expect much since the park had not yet opened, but contrary to my expectations, I was able to see what was going on from the outside.
I could see from a distance that the outer wall that had been there until last year had been removed and there was only a white wooden fence and a construction divider.
Of course, there is a security guard standing at the divider and you cannot proceed beyond it.
That’s right ^^;
The entrance gate and objects may already be completed
As you can see, the gate part of the entrance on the right side from the front is at a level where we can say it is already completed.
Although I was not able to see the lower part of the objet d’art, I think it is safe to say that the objet d’art is almost complete.
This object was in the same state of completion as it was at the beginning of the fall.
I have the impression that the design is in line with the landmark part of the “Grand Warehouse of Ghibli”.
I was not able to get a closer look, but the surface of the object is elaborately decorated with brightly colored tiles as well. I am sure it will be a feast for the eyes of visitors!
Is the exterior part of Howl’s Castle almost complete?
It seems that the exterior of Howl’s Castle has been completed to a level where it can almost be said to be finished.
I am still curious about this building, after all!
It seems that most of the people who like “Howl’s Moving Castle” are from Japan, but I would recommend this facility to those who have read the original story.
I wish I could get a little closer, but, well, I guess the fun will have to wait until after March.
This Howl’s Castle requires a premium ticket.
Hatter’s Millinery and Okino Residence also have perfect exteriors
The red-roofed hut is on the right when viewed from the front, Howl’s Castle is in the middle, and buildings such as Hatter’s Millinery and the Okino Residence can be seen.
This is the building from “Howl’s Moving Castle”, but it seemed larger than I had imagined.
Or perhaps it was because the building in Howl’s Castle was smaller than I had imagined, so it may have been the result of comparison with it.
The impression of the movie is still very strong.
It was raining and I could not use my telephoto lens, so I tried to get as close as possible, but the trees were in the way and I could not take a clear picture.
However, I think it is possible to get some idea of the atmosphere.
I don’t know the distance between the front and rear positions of Howl’s castle, so I can’t compare the size of the two castles in general…
Looking forward to the opening of the second phase of Ghibli Park (^^)
In this article, we reported on the current appearance of Witches’ Valley, which marks the completion of the second phase opening of Ghibli Park.
Again, I was a little surprised to see what it looks like from the outside.
Since it is not impossible to enter this Aichi Expo Commemorative Park at night, I wondered what the security situation would be like. I would like to think that there are no such people who love Ghibli, though I can’t help but wonder.
Tickets are hard to come by, but…
I would love to see what is actually in there, but it is hard to acquire tickets….
Since this is a new area and a new sales method, I think it will be difficult to obtain tickets for a while.
I think the best time to aim for is early fall admission = purchase of tickets around August to September.
I was not able to get a ticket for the free preview in Japan…. But I’m not giving up.
This preview will be held around March 6, so that means it will be completed by then to be able to admit visitors.
So that means it is pretty much finished even at this point. I imagine that the exterior is almost the same as the one I photographed this time.
The rest is probably in the detailed status of the interior and operations.
It’s been a day of ticket fights since this article came out, so congratulations to those of you who were able to score tickets for April admission.
This article is image-centered.
The next article will focus on the images I have taken at Dondoko Forest.
Thank you for your continued interest m(_ _)m
