Ticket sales method for Ghibli Park changed to first-come, first-served

Ghibli Park, which opened on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, will sell tickets only on a first-come, first-served basis, with no lottery, beginning with tickets for admission in February 2023, which are scheduled to go on sale on Thursday, November 10.

First-come, first-served starting with tickets for February 2023 admission

Since the opening of the park, until January 2023, the only way to purchase tickets was by lottery due to the possibility of confusion and problems caused by a high concentration of applications.

However, now that the park organization’s operations have stabilized and there are prospects for problem-free processing, it appears that sales will be made only on a first-come, first-served basis, rather than by lottery.

Tickets for the Prefectural Citizens’ Day will be available by lottery as in the past

On the other hand, tickets for “Kenmin Day” on the 27th of every month will be sold by lottery as before.

However, this “Kenmin Day” is only for residents in Aichi Prefecture, where Ghibli Park is located.

If you have friends in Japan who live in Aichi Prefecture, you may contact them and visit.

Means of purchasing tickets to Ghibli Park expanded

This allows visitors to purchase tickets to Ghibli Park with advance confirmation of the date and time they can reliably visit the park.

In addition to the existing “Boo-Woo Tickets”, tickets can also be purchased at Loppi terminals located at Lawson and Ministop from the first day of sales.

This is for sales in Japan, but it is expected to become even more convenient, and the same method of selling tickets outside of Japan will be developed as well.

Overseas sales should start following this format in an organized manner from the beginning.

Please refer to the bottom of this article for more information on the plan for ticket sales to overseas residents.

The “Hill of Youth” and “Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse” can now be viewed at the same time

In addition, starting with tickets for admission in February 2023, there will be a new ticket that allows visitors to view two areas at once: “The Hill of Youth” and “Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse”.

Previously, visitors had to purchase a ticket for each of the three areas: “Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse,” “Hill of Youth,” and “Dondoko Mori.

However, there have been many requests to view multiple areas at once.

from One Tweet for Ghibli Park

This lucky early ticket winner was able to enter the “Hill of Youth” and “Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse” areas. I also signed up for this day, but was disappointed.

I heard that he gave up on the Narikiri photo Place (where you can become a Ghibli character) and the store because there was a huge line…. Too disappointed too!

Beginning with the February 2023 admission, which will be available for purchase in November, visitors will be able to enter the “Hill of Youth” and “Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse” at one time, which can be accessed within a 5-minute walk.

As a result, tickets for “Seishun no Oka” only will not be sold from now on.

With the Ghibli Park finally open, the environment for international visitors is steadily improving.

How to Sell Tickets for Ghibli Park

Again, the purchase of tickets for admission to Ghibli Park will no longer be by reservation as previously reported, and each date and time will be applied for on a first-come, first-served basis beginning with the February 2003 admission for purchase in November 2022.

This information is only for those who apply from within Japan, but it is expected that the same method will be used for purchases from outside of Japan.

The method of purchasing tickets from outside Japan has not been officially announced, but according to Aichi Prefecture, one of the managing entities of the event, the method of purchasing tickets from outside Japan is expected to be announced between late January and February 2023.

Types of tickets and fees (including tax) for Ghibli Park

As mentioned earlier, the stand-alone ticket to the Hill of Youth is no longer available.

The following is a list of the various ticket types and prices, while for domestic use.

Admission to “The Grand Warehouse of Ghibli”

Visitors may enter the “Grand Warehouse of Ghibli” independently. There is no set admission time, and visitors are asked to enter by 3:00 p.m. (3:00 p.m.) on the day of their visit.

Re-entry is not permitted to the “Grand Warehouse of Ghibli” and the estimated viewing time is two to three hours.

Day type (estimated sales volume/day) Adult Child
(4 to 12 years old)
Weekday(2,850visitors) 2,000yen 1,000yen
Public holiday(3,230visitors) 2,000yen 1,000yen
Saturday& Sunday (3,230visitors) 2,500yen 1,250yen
  • The above amounts include tax. Admission is free for children under 3 years old.
  • All tickets for weekdays, weekends, and holidays must be reserved by date and time.
  • A separate system fee (110 yen per ticket) is required to purchase tickets.

Admission to the “Hill of Youth” and “Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse” set

Starting with tickets for admission in February 2023, “Hill of Youth” and “Ghibli no Dai Soko” will be sold as a set.

The distance between “Hill of Youth” and “Ghibli no Dai Soko” is 5 minutes on foot. There is a big difference between “Dondoko Mori” and “Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse,” which is also a 20-minute walk.

This is probably the reason why the tickets are now sold as a set, but those who actually want to purchase tickets for “Dondokoro Forest” and “Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse” separately should consider the travel time when booking their tickets.

As a result, tickets for only the “Hill of Youth” are no longer sold.

Weekday holidays are the best time to aim for this, as there are more tickets scheduled to be sold and the prices are lower.

  • Visitors may enter “The Grand Warehouse of Ghibli” at any time of their choice, but re-entry is not permitted.
  • The estimated time to visit the “Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse” is 2 to 3 hours.
  • The last admission to “Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse” is until 3:00 p.m. If you have a set ticket that allows you to enter the “Hill of Youth” after 3:00 p.m., please enter “Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse” first.
  • The above prices include tax. Admission is free for children under 3 years old.
  • A separate system fee of 110 yen per ticket is required.

Entrance time frame to Ghibli Park

Although the time slots for entry to Ghibli Park are fixed, there are some areas that are somewhat in flux, so I will write more about them here on this blog as soon as the sales method for outside Japan is announced.

Since each of the three areas is different, those who intend to visit the “Dondokoro Forest” and “Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse” on the same day, as mentioned earlier, should consider the time schedule and make reservations accordingly.

Tickets for Ghibli Park for individuals living abroad are expected to go on sale in January next year

Since Tuesday, October 11, 2022, the Japanese government’s waterfront measures regarding COVID-19 infectious diseases have been greatly relaxed, allowing individual foreign travelers to enter the country.
